I've been thinking of getting an operator license for a bit now.  Finally picked up the book (probably should get the other books as everyone online says that you should try and take all the tests even if you're not prepared).  Anyone out here licensed and have any suggestions or words of wisdom?

How funny, I'm going next weekend to renew my license (I was licensed in 1991 and let is lapse when I was overseas, and I need to retest).

There are a ton of videos on the testing, and I would visit:

And take the practice exams until you can consistently pass.

About 1/3 of the exam is basic electronics, so if you have a EE background it's a no brainer.  The hardest part is memorizing which bands you can operate in, which forms a lot of questions.
