Man, this guy's got a pretty bad rep.

Anyone that is even vaguely considering dealing with Handwound transformers(AKA Lucas Electronics) BE WARNED!! He is without doubt one of the biggest, and most practiced rip-offs on the "Net". He lets you know that it will take 4 - 6 weeks to get your product. This eliminates the possibility of getting your money back from Paypal(30 day limit). Then he has a comprehesive repertoire of excuses, lies and promises when he doesn't deliver at all!! He WILL keep you in limbo while your credit card dispute possibilities expire as well(usually 90 days). His local Better Business Bureau has a file on him and doesn't even reply to complaints regarding him any longer. My order was placed in March of this year, and still nothing(it's now November)!! You've been warned!

More still...

What "handwound" do mean?
It is randomized wound, and randomization is done by
hand.
I did it with excellent results at ribbon mic transformer secondary.
some Marshall output transformers may be randomized that way.
It is not qualified work. Women from the street can do it.
But someone must know, that this is the right way.
{in the mic-input trannys}
And terephtalate insulation and varistor everywhere if you
do it at tube outputs.

Yeah.... I have..... wish I didn't....

One piece of advise---STAY AWAY!

And remember his name--David Lucas--the same David Lucas who used to have business with electrostaic speakers. You might remember his ads in Speaker Builder and Audio Amateur magazines. After some law suets he was forced to close that business. I am wondering where this artist will go next...

xvlk, random winding is ok, if you are willing to put your fate into the hands of the "Random God"!

BTW, i think i figured out why that Signal pwr tranny had such good freq response. The windings were hand wound and spaced very far away from each other.

A guy I work with lost about $400 to this guy. Paying for an alleged set of tube amp o/p trafos.

Multiple emails saying "they are ready", "they are not ready", then he "didn't have the materials to build them" (after he had said they were ready...?!?!?!?) I think they have a PC program that randomly generates excuses and its not well written. :?:

Send you money to me instead, I'll be honest and tell you I'm going to send you nothing in return.

Or better yet, send the money to the Tsunami victims fund or something!!

Peace!

I lost about $100 to that guy. I ordered a power transformer which he never sent. I asked repeatedly for a refund after waiting a few months, and he never sent that either. I reported him to PayPal. What an *******.
