Hi all!

I made 2x SSL9K 500's boards, but  in a 1U rack with proper PSU.
I just used 1x Keith's SSL9K PSU, and since I have 2x BO's DI that are phantom powered... I think the PSU is "short" for all the supply needed.
Newbie questions... but I'm puzzled :(

My toroidal is 18 - 0 -18 with 30VA... is this enough to supply?

1) The + / - PSU's rails are LM78XX based, so I just have or 7X18 ->+/- 18V or 7X15 -> +/-15V
The supply voltage should be +/- 16V... so what is better? use only +/- 15V? Use +/- 18V and somehow lower the voltage to +/-16V? Build a new PSU from Scratch?

2) After solving 1) If I put 2x SSL9K PSU, should this solve my problem? have I enough phantom current to supply the mics and the Bo's DI?

Please help me!

Sorry about the photos quality :(

Greetings,
Your 30VA transformer should deliver a little under 1A of current (833mA) to the regulators.  The 78XX and 79XX regulators are good for up to 1A, so you are good there as well.  IIRC the 9K 500 boards draw about 150mA each (from the +rail) with ALL of the LEDs on (bar mode), so you are drawing less than 300mA for both 9K boards max.  I don't know how much the DI boards draw, but it couldn't be that much, so I think you have plenty of power available.  If you used TL052s in the 9K circuit as per the BOM, you should go with the 7815 and 7915 regulators.  You'll still have plenty of headroom, I'm sure.
Good luck!

Hi Bruno!

Thanks for the reply!
In fact, using just one of the keith's SSL9K PSU board, I have some noise each time I act the pad switch, or the phantom... I think I'm having a bad filtering section using only one PSU board for all the mains boards (with the led bargraph) and both DI... that are constantly feeded by the phantom power rail... there's some windy, like highs, comming in when I switch the switches...
I'll try feed 2x PSU boards, one for each channel...
Hope it helps in some way :(
Cheers!

Odd, since the Pad switch controls a relay powered by the - rail, while the Phantom switch has no relay involved. You shouldn't need a second PSU board.  Could be a grounding issue, since there is current through the 0V connection to the PSU.  Is there a separate ground wire from the DI board to the PSU?  What happens if you disconnect the DI boards, and use a mic?
