 It sucks that so many "old" electronics stores are closing their doors and forcing us to niche online retailers. Nothing against these retailers, but it was cool when I could go to the store and buy vacuum tubes. But with all these sad goodbyes there are a lot of good buys!

I hate to brag but I just picked up:

10 DPDT toggle switches
43 three lug terminal posts
21 six lug terminal posts
3 boxes of Mar-Kit Dri-Transfer "decal' letters
an unopened bag of 50 1/2watt 68k Allen & Bradley CComp resistors
an unopened bag of 50 1/2watt 220k Allen & Bradley CComp resistors
an unopened bag of 50 1/2watt 470k Allen & Bradley CComp resistors
12 1watt 100 ohm Allen & Bradley CComp resistors
25 1/2watt 100k Allen & Bradley CComp resistors
15 1/2watt 22meg Allen & Bradley CComp resistors (royer mod)
25 1' brown chickenhead knobs
6 "Pultec pointer knobs"
20 Daka-Ware 1.5" knobs
30 Daka-Ware 2" knobs

all for a measly $40 :guinness: :guinness: :guinness: :guinness:

And I just scored this:

Just hope those are shorting types. If not...*¨%*¨%¨$#@

Well, I can use it to drive relays, like in that CJenrick EQ... Lots of relays... :?

They're perfect for the Green pres... they don;t have to be shorting, since momentary open-circuits on the green pre leads to a reduction of gain, without instability... the gain switch is bypassed with a feedback resistor, so it's all good.

The Grayhills are perfect for that.

I gotta great score once like that a local oil office closed out their parts and repair department, lots of radio shack stuff but also plenty switches and a whole slew of knobs. I was most excited about getting knobs on the cheap, or on the free, It's one of the things I hate to spend on but love to have spent on. Surplus parts just make me feel so good about the world, like god himself has ordained that I build cool stuff.

Rafael !! Mardito!!! PLS SELL ME SOME!!!

Very nice score indeed, I'm jealous here my friend! :)
Seems that I need to become a evilbay rat also...

cheers!

I bought a fun new digital scope...

had to convince SWMBO that 3 scopes and a logic analyzer is not enough :)

That´s what I call a score...

Those are the same as NEVE 31267 !!!

Congratulations, Peter...

Cheers... Out sniped you on those babies Raphael... It's about time...

Got enough for my 36 channel mixing desk now...

Hiya John... WELCOME BACK... :thumb:

Starting from scratch.
Going to build 12 channels at a time into rack boxes and patch em all together round the back.
Any particular type of topology?
The simplest type..!!

I really don't know. Probably straight into a 5534 (or something discrete if I can get my chit together), then into a simple simulated inductor EQ and shove a fader in there somewhere..

I've got a lot of thinking and reading up to do.

peter

PS I hear you on the pins.

Well, this may not be the killer deal of the year, but I'm stoked 'cause now I have a nice piece to rack all my vintage Ampex gear in:

Vintage rack

I think that's a fair price myself!

We have a similar rack at work - it came from an old Bofa PA system. The server hosting my website is in that rack

gyrator-business, i guess? or something like CAPS, rather...?
i was always wondering if there's some hands-on info on the web or in books about practical design considerations for circuits like that. i know those articles by steve dove, actually quite informative, but the sections about gyrators, CAPS, etc. just don't do it for me

I know it´s pretty standard, but as I spent the time to reverseE it, here is the info. Maybe someone that likes TO92 can use it for low impedance loads.

Left the transformer out and also the 100nF decoupling for each rail.

LF353N JFET input dual opamps used all over. Each one of the little boards includes two buffers.

It looks like the transformer is a gapped one and the secondary is shunted with a 47pF cap, to kill high frequency peaks...??

On the simulation, it drives 600ohms up to +22dBm nicely and the -6dB point (20Hz) is at 75R load, but I´m sure it´s not realistic. Will it drive 600ohm output in real life?

Unfortunatly, it seems that the LF353N opamp has a maximum input voltage of 15V peak-to-peak regardless of a higher Vcc. Anyone tried this opamp already? How does it sounds in your experince? Any good? Or should I upgrade to BB opamps?

I´m going to probably use the transformers with API/melcor/Q8 opamps and I´ll use the buffers with a electrolytic-coupled-impedance-balanced output in a cheaper micpreamp project.

Oh, yeah... and one more input transformer for my projects.

Speaking of Ampex, the old sign from the fifties is still up on highway 101 near Redwood City:
