Hello fellow DIYers,

I thought this might be useful for some to have. It is a couple of Gerber files for a IC to 2520/990 foot print adaptor.
One is a simple layout suitable for home etching (double sided still though) and the other is a bit more 'perforated' for peripheral components that may be needed.

If anyone decides to make a bunch, please send a couple my way  ;).

*** UPDATED FILES BELOW ****

Great idea. Hoping to do something like this, but couldn't find the time.

How about adding a SOIC8 footprint too.  For some SMD chips ;D

.. and maybe SMD LEDs for added bling! power indicator for V+/V-

On a 8 pin single op amp (5534 TL071 etc.)
Pin2 is -
Pin3 is +

However this PCB is a great Idea.

Snap! Totally missed that. I don't know what I was thinking... :-[

Will rectify asap.

Alright  :).. That just inspired me to do another 'bling' version... ;D

I will let everyone know when the corrected/updated gerbers are available. Gotta run right now though...

Hey Mike - This is a great idea. I have some similar pcbs that I purchased a while ago from a member. You could also include spaces for reverse voltage protection diodes.

Best, Ben

I love the idea, but perhaps I have a stupid and dumb question. Why not build a doa with the adaptor at once?

The Gerbers have been updated finally! :)

I fixed the pin2 and 3 reverse issue and also added a couple more versions that include the SOIC8 footprint for SMD parts.

Enjoy!  ;D

Never mind. I thought you were going the other direction; adapters to put DOAs in ic sockets.

Best, Ben

I've always thought this would be a great idea for testing circuits with an inexpensive 5534 chip before firing it up with an expensive / precious DOA.

Exactly , although you could measure voltages first as well

Hey Mike i'll just buy some from you , are you going to produce ?

Greg,

I don't plan on getting those made unless there is a large enough interest to make it worth it. I was thinking that it'd be great to have all four of them bundled together in a break-apart fashion, tab routed.  ;)

Cheers

Mike
