Regulation for this handled upstream of this circuit. When a load is applied there is little adjustment that has to be made, if any, to keep the voltages at the intended target. As compared to an RC or CL network, this works much, much better. I had struggled for years to be able to get an off the shelf SMPS to be quiet enough for audio circuits and the RC and LC schemes never worked. I would have loved for one of those options to have been the solution to make my life much easier. But I observed little to no difference in the change of PSU noise with or without an RC/CL filtering, especially when using this with 1073 style preamps. The posted circuit above has been a game changer for me in my ability to power custom builds. It is an archaic design and I need to revisit it at some point but I can use it on anything that is under 50V a rail and I know that the power source will not cause audio problems.
