Hi...
Does anyone know if it is possible and if so, where I can order Jensen transformers in Europe (Taxes and VAT's and customs fee is not wanted as ordering from the U.S)

I have been ordering from Sowter and I really like their transformers but their service is a bit... cramped :( so I am looking at other brands.

Regards

I recently ordered some transformers from Jensen for delivery to the UK. I had to pay VAT but there was no duty to pay. If you buy from someone in Europe, they will still have to pay the VAT and shipping costs so it will be no cheaper.

The folk at Jensen are very friendly and helpful. They even take Paypal.

Cheers

Ian

If you are looking for outputs I have quite a number of JE-123-S. I also have a pair of JE-115K-E and some octal 10k:10K bridging.

Ian... Well, yes of course ther are VAT from... the U.K and also shipping fee but from the U.S there will first be a rather high shipping, then 10% customs fee and then , on top of it all, a 25%VAT in Sweden... making things from the U.S nearly twice the actual prize in usd.

For example I ordered five military spces pots from Digi-Key and I dont remember exactly but I believe they were 10usd each  but when everything was paid I had paid nearly 120USD.

So... ordering from the U.S is the last  option in my world

ps. Just got two transformer from Sowter today... for a VK1 Vari-mu compressor =)

I too ordered from Jensen directly, very nice guys...

If you buy from a local dealer, he will have payed shipping, vat, customs fee, and what not... And will charge you for it. So you might end up cheaper buying from Jensen... Try Lundahl...?

Jensen almost went out of business recently but was saved by radial who purchased them. I believe they still work as transformer company vs radials personal production line.

Yes Lundahl would be great  I suppose but I haven't seen any Lundahl with wires so Since I am a eyelet-guy it wouldn't match :)

One tip, if you want to order components from the USA is to use Mouser rather than Digi-key. Mouser adds VAT directly to your order so there is none to pay when you get them and no customs fees either.  Over a certian amount, shipping is free too. Pity the don't sell Jensen transrformers.

Cheers

Ian

Yes, Mouser is great… fast and accurate shipping… VAT and shipping exists of course but they do not have audio transformers which would make them the number one place to go.

But when it comes down to resistors I can recommend elf a.se… a swedish equivalent but with a bit more detailed and broad numbers of resistors… detailed pictures and info.

I would love to try Jensen or even cinema transformers but as mentioned… they are very expensive to get hold on… for a person living in Sweden that is.

Nobody hat knows a retailer in Europe?

Il know what you meant. Here in Canada, getting sowter transformer is really expensive. The exchange rated is more than 1,85CAD for 1GBP, plus the import charges, vat, canadian taxes, etc. Not really affordable to get lundhal, too or other european products with the CAD at Less than 0,68 euro...

Deepdark: I know exactly what you mean. I believe it is due to a (No)agreement between the european union and the Americas causing them to add customs fees and taxes way beyond normal sales prices. I guess both parts wants people and companies to trade within their own territories?

Samuel Groner: No, I haven't asked them yet… just throwing in a ball in the park here first =)
