Hey guys,

Over the past couple of months I've been building some new pre's with my students.
They are a single channel transformer in pre
pad, +48V, phase

most of them were built with a small transformer and a BB OPA2604A
A few students, and I have built a few with a vtx/oep transformer and 2x 99v's instead of the OPA

Firstly, props to Joe for an extremely elegant and well laid out, easy to build design, and for all of his help with these,

Secondly, this pre sounds awesome, I have a 2ch dual 99v and its very similar.
There is plenty of gain (75dB?) and it is super quiet
have only tried it so far with strat - DI - MONO - PT and it was killer, clean and clear, deep, rich in the low end, incredibly smooth transients. look forward to trying this on some more things when i get it over to the studio.

heres the build thread at the JLM forum:

and heres a pic of the insides after completion
