Je Suis Sharlie?
main-qimg-3c76133bb4483f91427c527c407eed5d

What do you think?
ISIS is "against the morden world"? (c) sol invictus ?
PS: It's the question from Mars. From the dark side of the moon. :)) With all respect to western world.

I don't speak French. So I did an on line translation  but I still don't get it.

However, whatever it is suppose to tell us I don't like the style.

"Crash over Sinai...finally the sex tape"

I don't think it's possible to get it if your not aware of French "local" news.

In one hand, at that time we have  "big buzz" at all media here about sex tape and well know French footballer, and other one blackmailing him...
It's now under justice hand.
At other hand, in the mean time, some confirmation the plane crash was a terrorism attack.

One of the possible meaning (you are free to have yours) is a parabola about Russian official "propaganda" saying it's NOT a terrorism attack, when the "tape" show the exact opposite, obviously the truth...

"sex tape can't lie" applied to Vlad ? it's up to you  :)

Best

Sorry guys for asking. It was just an attempt to hear the opinions - what makes us laugh.

Zam, thank you for explanations! Some of their pics looks really strange.

Feedback received, topic can be closed.

Good weekend to everyone!  :)

Zam, thank you for the explanation.

Which strengthens  my view that it is an extremely insensitive way of conveying it.

If I was a relative of any of the perished in that crash I would not like somebody making a joke by sending a rocket up their back side.

There are other ways of hurting officials.

Humor doesn't always translate. But Charlie Hebdo is far from PC and has always been willing to break the rules of decorum to shock people for circulation.

I suspect that isn't their first or last offensive cover art. They try to offend everybody.

On that topic, what do the public think happened to that aircraft. I don't recall hearing much about the investigation. It walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, but it could have been a hoverboard in the baggage compartment with battery meltdown. Most likely a bomb.
Good weekend to everyone!  :)
yes... and to you.

Since then the official Russian position have change, it's now officially a terrorism bomb attack  ::)
Maybe they find the tape  8)

Charlie are great bastard, they offer alternative way to see how the world is, giving key for ppl open to receive it, whatever conclusion you personally have after the thinking.
It still a French magazine, mostly reference to local news and internal politic, I understand how it could be difficult for foreigner to understand the whole editorial line
Also keep in mind that Charlie hebdo have half of the content filled with articles, art , politic, science, multimedia, economy, also investigation papers etc... 16page per week.
Unfortunately foreigner never have access to this when polemic grow up around 1 picture...once a year.

That's for sure !!!, but the only thing they try to offend is ignorance, and sometime it hurt, even for educated ppl

Now they are far beyond the French context I think. Half of the world said Je Suis Sharlie, but I just wanted to hear do ppl really think so, or it's a kind of trend?
From the other side we just see the pics: a child from Syria or Russian aircraft. Without context.
So they are just marginals or "the essence" of western world today? Let's put aside democracy and freedom, just curious do the western people like the thing they do, is it really the things that can consolidate you as opposed to the more "traditionally-minded east"?

No!.

In that picture they would offend me if any of my relatives were killed in that crash.

What that picture tells me is a rocket up Russian officials a*s but at the expense of those who perished  in the crash.

To me those who illustrated that cover and approved for press are just as ignorant.

PC means "politically correct" and as you can see from responses here to this thread some here consider it offensive.

The western world pretty much champions free speech even if we don't agree with that specific speech, while there are always exceptions. Turkey just detained 27 academics over their criticism of military action in the Kurdish region, while Turkey stands with one foot in the west and one still firmly in the middle east.

The most violent suppression of free speech today is the radical muslim response to murder individuals who express ideas they don't like. That is pretty much the only reason most people know who/what Charlie Hebdo is.

Even in the US, the millennial mentality is more interested in "safe spaces" in college instead of the classic free and open discussion that leads to expanding awareness, which normally occurs in university settings.

IMO kids need to grow a pair, and islam needs to reform itself from within and perhaps unify the two warring religious factions, that don't think the other deserves to exist. Stop using religion as an excuse to kill people. We can't fix their society for them, but until they do we must deal with the extreme bad actors appropriately.

They never ask to be a symbol, but it happen without choices, because of tragic circumstance you all know
It's also a kind of trend, but not only, unfortunately I'm not so good in English to develop this kind of discussion  :(
I wish I could because talking is finally the most important thing to understand each other.

Without context.

You say everything in two words...
Investigation, multi documentation, different source of information, it's a personal work up to each one to catch as best as possible the context of a situation, of any situation you want to understand, then and only then you can eventually come close to the "truth".

Of course they are... atheo-humanisto-socialismo-feminismo-antifascismo-anticapitalismo-cartoonisto-clowns always been and will always be marginals.
