Hi.
i plan building a la1d varymu clone. CCA make it as a stalevel "clone" with
12bh7 output instead 6v6.
I ve begin trace a layout from the schematic available on jacob site : http://www.gyraf.dk/schematics/CCA_LA1D_Limiter.gif
BUT I can t find any infos about the input (it s an UTC) and output traffos (maybe a "chicago"?). here a bad back-side pic : http://www.geocities.com/warren914/LA-1D_3.jpg
Can you help me choose the right traffos or substitution ones?
any help appriciated.

Whatever you do, don't copy that lousy input attenuator. It reflects a measly 36 ohms to the source when turned down all the way!

6386s are so hard to find now, and expensive, that I don't understand why someone would want to clone a design that uses them.

i have 2 6386 a old guy gave me. and yes i plan to do bridged Tpad attenuators both for input and output.
but i m stopped by thoses in- out traffos

Oooh, that is tempting as an alternative to the 6V6 output, when you don't need herculean drive capability. That beastly 6V6 stage is a bit over the top.

EDIT (again): Realized he got Sowter customs.

I just got a batch of 28 6BA6s to find a matched pair to use in place of the 6386. It's been done by a few members.

I'll bet my dead grandmother that the input is either an HA-100, or HA-100X.

Chi Town outy.

looking for a match.
