Line Level Tube distortion box?

Any ideas or schematics for a Line Level Tube distortion box ala the spl charisma?

If iwere to build something along the lines of a Matchless Hotbox, how could mod it to deal with line level? I would like to avoid stepping down the signal if possible.

If that's not feasible, what's the absolute best possible way to do the reverse d.i. thing. And then I could use the di on my 1272 to ramp it back up i guess.

look at the thermonic cultre cultre vultre. shouldn't be took hard to guess the schematic. the potted bias thing is great for experimenting with.
