I was wondering if anyone has a clever solution for finding location of broken wires in multicored cables, headphone cables, and any other audio type cables.
I have tried various tools without much success. These include a homemade TDR, and AC mains sense pens.
I found this http://www.ronex.ee/index.php?product_id=29102&group_id=751&page=79&action=show_product_details, whilst googling around.
Anyone ever try one of these?

Measuring the capacity (from both ends) in pF usually gives a good indication where the interruption is.
(Say the length of the cable is 10 m, on one side you measure 700 pF, from the other side you measure 300 pF. That measn the interruption occurs at ca. 7 m.)

did you try this one ?
