This has been done several times before so you would expect it would not be that exciting. But you would be wrong - never before have I seen the whole landing process in such great detail. Amazing. I only hope I live long enough to see a manned landing on Mars.

Im not really sure I see any good reason to try and send people to mars other than to prove to ourselves we could do it . I remember a few years ago an Irish guy agreed to take a trip to Mars on the basis of no return journey , he'd get there ,do whatever tasks he was supposed to do then be euthanased or put to sleep , I guess to some degree the chance of fame overtook the guys will to live , some strange fish out there for sure

The delivery method was done once before but we didn't have video. 

Amazing stuff.

Prior to that we used to throw big bouncy beach balls at Mars.

Yes, bringing people to Mars (and then back!) is so much more complicated and risky compared to the Moon Landings. I wouldn't bet on it happening anytime soon.
