Hello, everyone,

I recently finished my DIY-Racked DR-609. I wanted to do a metal knob version but the originals are nowhere to be found, so I had to get creative. I wanted to share the part numbers and procedure in case any one had an original 33609 or was repairing one and needed some of these knobs or wanted to convert plastic ones.

This is the knob - Mentor 532.6 - (https://www.reichelt.com/de/en/rotary-knob-without-marker-for-6-mm-axis-note-please-order-cove-knopf-20-6-al-p42091.html?ARTICLE=42091&&r=1)

This is the cap - Elma 21.3mm blue glossy w/ indicator (https://www.don-audio.com/Classi-Knob-Cap-213mm-Blue-Glossy-Indicator-line-by-Elma)

Some places sell the Mentor knob with the indicator line using the same manufacturer's part number. Mine did not. Mentor also makes caps for these knobs which have to be purchased separately. They make a black and gray one that have an indicator line, however I was committed to finding blue ones. These knobs are made for 6mm shaft, but I was able to get them to fit on the Lorlin switches by removing the collet from the knob and rotating till it shaved off enough plastic to fit. If I had spent the extra money and used Elma switches through out this wouldn't have been a problem.

The caps from Don Audio have two rows of ribs that prevent the cap from directly fitting on the knob. Take a pair of small side cutters and trim the insert portion of the cap just below the first rib from the cap top. This will be enough to hold the cap in place.

Thanks!

Paul

That looks fantastic, love the engraved panel on the unit below as well

Hi,
The metal power toggle switch on my 33609 (metal knob) unit has sheared off.
Anyone know which one I should replace it with? Very simple part but I'm crap at this!
CPC or RS links appreciated.
