Mic pre dual use

Quick newb question: To fader bump, you need a gain source...
During mixdown, the pre goes unused- do mixers reroute it to serve as a line amp for fader bumping?

No the typical gain stage post fader is on the order of +10dB and nominal impedance there is higher than typical microphone.

Mic preamps are optimized at higher than 10 dB gain so more than you need for the job or might even degrade performance.
