mic stand thread and dimensions

What is the threading and size of a typical mic stand where the clip goes? I'm getting 5/8 of an inch for diameter size but what about the threading. I have an idea for some LDC mics that instead having a shock mount, one could have the female end of the mci clip on the bottom on the mic, vs a shoctmount

Yes, as Walrus says, 5/8" 27UN is the larger of the two common sizes now.

3/8" 16BSW is the smaller 'European' one.
