I'm looking at doing the Royer tube conversion on the MXL-2001. He specifies a Jensen DB/E. I have a couple of questions:

What does he mean when he says "uncased"? Pry off the shield?

The DB-E is a 12:1 transformer with wire leads. Can I substitute a Lundahl LL1578XL, which is 10:1? I'd prefer to mount it on the board if I can (and there's room!)

Thanks!

I have the PDF's of the specs of both the Jensen and Lundahl transformers. Clearly there are some differences: turn ratios, impedence, etc.

What I'm asking here is whether the differences are going to make a difference. Does anyone here have a clear preference of Jensen vs. Lundahl? My understanding is that both are "industry standards" - so how do I choose? If everything else is equal, I'll go with the Lundahl for mounting ease and shielding. If you think this is the wrong decision, I'm all ears.
