Hi guys,

I'm always curious about microphones I don't know and have already posted photos or videos to identify them. Instead of always making a new thread, I think it would be better to establish a collection thread for this topic.

So, if you also want to identify a microphone, whether new or vintage, just post the relevant pictures or video here.

I'll start with this large diaphragm mic, which is used here as a vocal mic for the great Amy Winehouse, who sadly passed away too soon.

Who can recognize this microphone?

Feilo originally made the base model that was then rebranded by T Bone, SE, Cascade, etc. Maybe it’s one of the other brands, Feilo brand, and/or an early run that doesn’t come up in photos often.
That sounds plausible, as the body is really quite similar. Maybe it was just optically modded by the owner?

Yes, it's very similar, but the mic in the video has two black rings, if I recognize it correctly.

You just don't want to admit i'm right, do you? :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

(Ok, might still be an sE 3300A after all; that has all three switches on the front half, actually  )

😅 😅
The puzzle is not 100% solved yet, I still hope that someone who knows exactly this microphone will join in. Nerdstuff, I guess.

I'd say that's shadow if you mean the ring between the mic and spider.
I think this is correct as well.

It isn’t a shadow from the shock mount or something nearby, it’s a shadow from there being a slightly indented ring on the microphone in that position. You can see a few other pictures of the mic online where that area is slightly shaded from the light angle.

How funny it is to think video are shooted during session... it almost never happen (maybe with the exception of 'we are the world' and some few other i can think of) for obvious reasons, and this one is playback as all this videos are.
Seeing is believing.

I think you and KK are right, it is a shadow, even in this well-lit photo the shadow is pretty visible.

Does this count?
Haha, we got a winner! You were right from the beginning! (y)
PS. I promise i did NOT cheat; i only googled for "amy winehouse 2200a OR 3300a" just now, hours AFTER my initial answer 😆
I have to admit, I could have thought of that myself...😅

I would say that this case is solved!

Do you mean that this vocal recording is playback? Her voice? I definitely don't think so!

The video is.

99% of time it is: few artists (and even fewer members of crew surrounding them) want any distraction during 'final' takes. I won't even talk about the dirty secrets which should not be shown to the world ( editing, autotune, mistakes,....).

It changed a bit with smartphones but when it's (the video) professionaly done ( as framing suggest in this one) it's fake and in no way the take you hear, there is no question about it.

It's like in the 'Club Silencio' sequence in D. Lynch's 'Mulholland Drive', it's all an illusion. This is showbusiness. And why i had a sarcastic tone about SE free advertising from the picture.

That's not true, most of the time we see a real recording that correlates exactly with the audio track. It is not uncommon to shoot some promo material during real recordings, also for documentary purposes. I've often done this myself, even for big names. The video is not professionally produced, on the contrary. I have been producing videos for over 30 years. Nobody has claimed that this shot is from the “real” production. But I don't think we need to discuss that here, it has nothing to do with the thread. Thank you.

Not my experience at all and like you with big name too (i've even been involved in such session booked for such purpose in Paris. There was some Studio more or less dedicated to this because of their studio/plateau - eg: Capitol to name one which catched fire during such a session where they forgot to cut lighting during a break for Raî artist Khaled...) .
But ok no need to discuss this further as you decided it's closed case.
