:cry:
i did not put any ic in,just wanted to measure if the voltage is right..one 10r resistor at the powersupply smoked...i am using a 2x18volt trafo and instead of the suggested b350c1000 i am using a b380r rectifier...

do i have to put the ics in before testing the voltage?

No, it was wise to leave them out.
Check for shorts near the 79/78L12, the one near the smoked resistor.

thanx for yor input,i dont see any shorts...tomorrow i will go and buy some new resistors,then i check again... :grin:

Hi,

I had a smoking SSL as well when I first built it. It was a combination of a lot of shorts on the PCB. I don't know if you etched your own or got one from the black market but make sure to check the entire board for any shorts.

I did have a smoking issue when i blew a regulator on my 1176 but it took me a little to figure that out....not a good thing!! It fried my transistors...even blew up my 5532. That is another one.

SO check the regulator and the caps as vital suggested.

let us know.

thanxs for your advice,my board is from the blackmarket and i took much care to solder everything,but i wll check again...
