My Presonus Firestudio 2626 firewire interface is not working. Bad chip?

Just wondering if anyone here knows where I can get a schematic or knows how easy it would be to replace the chip inside the unit?  I'm going to get a rework station once I know it's possible to replace the chip and get it working.

The unit keeps loosing sync with the firewire card but my focusrite saffire works just fine so I suspect it's an issue with the Presonus.

Of course Presonus tech support was no help at all and no longer support my unit.  If I were to replace the chip would I have to reprogram it somehow?  I am a n00b when it comes to all things FPGA.

I bought the unit back in 09 and it really sucks Presonus are unable to help me out.
