This may be old news but it just occurred to me that the Neve transformer numbers look extraordinarily like dates:

10468 = 10th  April 1967
31267 - 31st January 1967
LO1166 = 1st January 1966

Could these be the dates Rupert designed them? Seems to much of a coincidence otherwise.

Cheers

Ian

mmm...I don't buy it, but who know  :)

5 digit for date in D-M-Y configuration is not that smart
what happen if you design/release something the 2 December and the 21 February of the same year 70
both have code 21270

Also 1 January seems weak for a working day  8)

Five digit have more sens (if date code) for DDD-YY, with first digit omission if zero

in your example:
10468 = day 104 year 1968
31267 = day 312 year 67
LO1166 = day 11 year 66

my two penny  ;D

It's been a lot of years since I read somewhere on the internet that yes, Neve trafo numbers are based on dates.  I have no idea if the source was a reliable one, but the notion's been out there for quite a while.

Yes, it could be a 3 digit day followed by a year - good thought, By the way, back in the 60s, , Jan 1st was not a holiday and most people were back at work.

Cheers

Ian

The LO1166 and LO2567 are believed to be date codes e.g. 11th week 1966 & 25th week 1967. We're not sure about the others though.
