Apparently EBAY is mining the big data that they collect from their internet sales operation to identify and share the hottest product search items with chinese manufacturers so they can manufacture replicas or versions of them. I suspect honest merchants will label these as replicas, but if they change hands after that first transaction all bets are off.
I am not aware of any smoking guns in the legacy audio corner but it seems old skus that are hot enough could turn into "new old products"...
