Ive done some reading on the older posts in regards to OEP transformers. Ive never heard one, should I expect these to sound in vain of belclere transformers? Building up another pre on the JLM boards and want to try something different for the front end but not sure another "neve-ish" type thing is what I need... Am I correct in assuming OEP's sound sort of in that ball park?

thanks

The A262A3E is the only one that is really usable. The A262A2E rings badly and has to be zobeled to death to get it sound ok. But the A262A3E can just be loaded by a 27k when the secondaries are used in series or 6k when used in parallel. It has a dark tone to it which I really like and would call it neve-ish sounding.

Thank you Joe for the post, it confirms what I thought about damping. Have you tried to damp the transformer with a zobel network [RC]?
Did you do any listening tests with diferent values or this is something you obtained by measurement?
