Picked up a Sony MX-16 from ebay to put my own summing mixer with make-up amps inside:

(not my image)

It's PERFECT for putting one's own guts inside as all the pots and switches are mounted on metal rails under the stainless faceplate.

Anyhow, when I looked at the actual circuit it's all discrete, and seems to be running on 40v.

I haven't really ear-tested it yet, but maybe this is worth exploring as more than just a DIY case?
Anyone ever see/use one of these?

i have one of those, but mine has a short in it somewhere.. and I haven't gotten a chance to look at it.. I'd be interested as well if anybody has any info.

I had one similar on loan for a long while. It ran on batteries and had like 4 channels...maybe 6. Anyway it was a noisy piece. Sony has made a wide range of products so YMMV.

Peace!

Yeah, I plugged this thing in and there's a lot of noise even with nothing plugged in. I mean the caps are old and whatnot, but I'm guessing they're not worth messing with.

Hmmm... I think this might just end up being a DIY mixer case like i'd orginally planned. A bargain at $11!!
Are those Sifam meters?
The VU meters say "Sony Corporation" and "Made in Tokyo". So, no Sifam here.

I'm guessing that almost all the components in this mixer are made by Sony.
