Analog Devices OP471FY dip, (Y=hermetic)

I bought some of these discontinued Opamps from ebay, only to find they are not all they're hyped-up to be....some say.

But the obsessive geek inside me says "Build Something, I Command You.." .

Any ideas? Headphone amp? Gain Stage? Part Swap?

short snippet:
The OP471 offers excellent amplifier matching which is important
for applications such as multiple gain blocks, low-noise instrumentation
amplifiers, quad buffers and low-noise active filters.
The OP471 conforms to the industry standard 14-lead DIP
pinout. It is pin-compatible with the LM148/LM149, HA4741,
RM4156, MC33074, TL084 and TL074 quad op amps and can
be used to upgrade systems using these devices.
(TL074 ??? I don't see that the OP471 is a JFET...???

Any info welcomed. Thanks.

it's not a JFET input device. you'll need to watch your DC in and out. you can do most anything you wish with these. How about a state variable EQ stage? :green:

BAck in the day I swapped out some OP471's(or were they OP470's?) in place of the TLO74's in the eq's of our Sountracks IL4832 mixer, and they definately ROCKED!! I did the first 8 channels, and then ran out of money!(it was not my board, and I was a tape-op/junior-engineer on £1 per hour. . . .ah! those were the days . . . .£8 each in Craplins, so 8 hrs to add one i.c,. and 8 channels . . . .WHAT WAS I THINKING - erm I mean DRINKING? More than a week's wages, and, Not even my board! DOH! Still. It started me on THIS particular road, - soooo . . . .

Apart from up-grading and salary-busting . . . . hmmmm, who knows(?)

What ever you do, Have fun! :thumb:

OK, so it seems there are many uses for these, so to narrow things down, are there any places you would NOT use these ??

EDIT: perhaps I will do a Korg MS20 filter clone (Rene Schmitz)

Absolutely:
I would NOT use them in a new project under any circumstances. Good quad op amps are getting hard to find, and there is plenty of old gear around with crappy quad op amps in them. Find yourself one of those older gears, and use your amps to fancy it up.

OK, last time I'll reply this topic. Thanks for all your kind suggestions.

OK, found it.

SSL Clone.

Because....I just scavangenated seven DBX2150a vca's from a board I found at a surplus "facility".

I will use the recommended TL074's first, see how it sounds, then replace with my OP741...see if any thing changes...RE:Ulysses...kinda

...now to order the boards....bye.

-=FB=

EDIT: also scavagenatoated five AD713 (NJ) quad biFETs !!
