Hey guys,

Got here a portable Panasonic SV250 DAT, which does not power up. Took it apart and my eyes got crossed just looking at the PCB. I could not locate service manual. Any idea as for what to do? The PSU gives voltage all right.

Locate a service manual. Without that, you probably won't hve a chance. Even with a manual, portable mechanical devices like that are pure hell to service.

I spoke to the guy at Digitron Electronics who is an authorized repair center for Panasonic DAT recorders. He told me that there is a DC-DC converter that commonly fails in the Panasonic portable DAT units.

I'm pretty sure panasonic will sell you a sevice manual. I know we got one for the 3800, so I would imagine they'll have one for the 250 as well.

Thank you Gentlemen,

The manual is on the way, and I will look at the DC/DC converter, first. I have no idea how will I solder all these 1 mm long transistors
