I am trying to find a replacement part for the transistor on a an 80's model (diagram 930-21) u87.

Can someone point me in the right direction?

And I hear they not making them anymore.....Farnell UK has some at the moment tho....
 
Make sure that you clean everything after replacing the FET. The circuit is very high impedance at that point and fingerprints are 50MOhm resistors  ;)

Yeah I learned about that while searching for the part. Yet another thing I will need to hunt for some docs on how to do it. Thanks for the heads-up.

This one is the correct part number per Magneto's post but doesn't look the same. I would like to find an NOS source but for you more seasoned guys would you say it's not likely I would find that?

If I am going to do some other Mic projects (DIY) should I buy a couple or even more?

 
Also some on Ebay worth buying a bag......I read here somewhere they have to be selected for DIY KM style circuit ?.....not sure if you would need to select one for your U87....perhaps someone has more infoon this .........
