I know this forum is for digital logic but I thought it might be a good place for this.
I’m attempting to wire up a passive talkback switch with a push-to-talk on the desk and a footswitch. I know relays or other logic could be used but trying to use just spdt switches at the moment.

I can’t seem to work out how to get both to unshort (unmute) the circuit individually. One switch is obviously simple enough. Xlr pins 2 &3 shorted through NC position on the momentary switch. Here’s a simplified (without de popping components) drawing of what I mean. How can I add another switch for unmuting?

in series with the first switch, so that either of them breaks the short..?
Yes. And it’s very simple. Don’t know why I was overthinking this...either too much coffee or not enough. I kept thinking series but drawing it out in parallel and saying this won't work...🙃
