I have some Neve clones that are powered by a "Power One" 24V 5A supply.  I also have a "Power One" 24VDC 1A supply, and am considering putting the 1A supply in series with the 5A supply for Phantom power for the mics, while still having the 5A supply power the Neves.  Anybody see anything wrong with this?
Thanks!

Diode isolation.  In theory the supplies are supposed to match for amperage, but I imagine in this case you'd be fine.

Do you mean add a diode between the supplies, or a diode in series with the 24V load, or both?
Thanks!

Depends whether the outputs are floating. If not, you will short one to earth.

Both supplies float.  The negative of the 5A is connected to ground.  The positive of the 5A goes to the Neve power, and the negative of the 1A supply.  The positive of the 1A supply goes to Phantom.

The 5A power supply gives a ripple noise on its out given by the neve amp's current that is high, so theorically it is preferable have no big loads on the 5A power supply, but if you don't hear ripple noise at high gain there are no problems.  ;D

PS: however it's necessary having a load on the 5A power supply's out , this load must have a quiescent current some mA higher than the max out current that you think that is on the 1A power supply with all phamtom outs active. It's possible to calculate this max current, but , however , in your case there are no problems for the high quiescent currents of the neve channels.
