Hello everyone,

First off, thanks for all the incredible amount of info I've found on here over the years. I think I've ingested enough theory now, to muster up the courage to finally get my hands dirty!

I have a vintage French opto compressor that I really like, the Publison CL20 C. It's in working order, except for a few gain reduction LEDs that won't light up anymore (a friend's educated guess was that the chip feeding the LEDs was probably fried). I'd like to fix that myself, and was considering a few mods while I'm at it:

  • changing the power supply from 220v to 110v and possibly beefing it up
  • changing the wonky pots for high quality stepped ones
  • deciding whether or not to recap / upgrade transistors, opamps, etc.(I do like the compressor's character and would like to preserve it to some extent) and recalibrating it to match both channels
  • add a high pass filter switch on the sidechain
  • add a wet/dry blend knob

So I was wondering if this awesome community could help guide me in this project? I'm a newbie, am a bit intimidated, but still very motivated, and a fast study.

Looking forward to reading your feedback!

Thanks,
B.
