I'm wiring up the power xformer for my G1176--using the amveco toroidal that seems to be a popular choice for this project.
I wire the primaries parallel, the secondaries in series. So I put some power to it, & I'm expecting about 24V to either side of the center tap(am I using the correct terminology here?), but instead I get 25V to one side & 5V to the other. The transformer isn't connected to the board, so it can't be a board problem. I've unwired & rewired four or five times, bu no joy. What the heck?

Thanks
Tom

Sounds like you've got two of the windings connected together so they're bucking rather than aiding. Check the phasing of your windings. Do you have a datasheet for the transformer?

Thanks for the tip. I had wired according to the instructions on an amveco pdf that I downloaded, but flipping a couple of wires solved the problem.
