A free afternoon and a digicam borrowed; [removed] we go!
The F*M-A*c*o*u*s*t*i*c*s is a rather special design; all transistors-pairs are selected on a curve tracer. All transistors are listening selected (for lowest "popcorn" noise). Specs are pretty amazing; i.e. CMRR for some gain settings is 130 dB from 20 Hz to 40 kHz.
I used this pair for all my classical recordings in the last two years with great success. They are pretty nasty clean!
Not so great is the pricing of these units; when I bought them second hand, one of the 4 pin DC power supply cables was missing; the company offered me a replacement (10 m) for 700 swiss francs (500$)! The 3.5 m version was a bargain with 350 francs. Of course I soldered one by myself...
