Question about part of a circuit WSW LIA 8

Hi, I am recapping some wsw line amplifiers, and there is one capacitor I don't understand what it is doing. C1 in attached schematic. In parallel with r5 it makes up a center tap on the transformer secondary tied to 0V.

Does it make the transformer behave better?
Set the impedance at base of t1-t2?
Bass filter?
none of the above?

Any comments appreciated,

The cap and resistor are in parallel, and set the d.c. conditons for both transistors. Badly drawn.
