I just acquired a Ran HC-6 Headphone Amp and it did not come with the power supply, It turns out the ps is an odd rj45 wall wart supply that is 18v and 6.75 amps. It is discontinued.

I found a diagram that says it is two 9v outputs that go into the unit. I'm guessing it goes in there in series. Could I connect a 9v single wall wart that is 7 amps into the same inputs? It must go in there in series.

The Rane power supply is AC and center tapped (there is only a 9V dual secondary transformer in it). This means that you'll need two 9V AC wall warts in series to power your unit correctly.

6,75 amps rating doesn't seem to be  correct. More likely it is 675 mA.

Or an Amp apiece into headphones.

If you do, get video!!

I am sure this is a typo for 0.6-some Amps.

This is how it is powered, stock and bodged:

I just realized it "can" be powered with single 9V AC supply. Ripple will be higher, but I think it has more than enough ripple filtering and PSRR to still be excellent. If you crank ALL the headphones REAL loud, you may stress the rectifiers, but I think the threat to your hearing is much worse. And if blowing your ears out also kills the rectifiers, it is a $5 repair (ears are irreplaceable).

I received the unit today and the guy shipped it in an envelope. So now it needs two new pots. they are 100k and I'm guessing audio taper? Should be easy enough to find.

Yes it is .675 amps. I guess I will try a single 9v psu and if it does not sound right I can always add another or go with an 18vct transformer. Or better yet, I found:

This http://www.ebay.com/itm/Nuvotem-Talema-3-2VA-2x-0-9V-Toroid-Transformer-2x115V-NEW-WOW-must-Have-/160762930525?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item256e37a55d is actually small enough to where it will bolt on to the outside of the enclosure (40X40X20). It will be close but it wil work. It says 2x 9v. I think it will work?!
