I found an interesting info at John Klet's forum:

"- UTC - post TRW was picked up by OPT and OPT has now become Magnetika. Magnetika can reproduce all the UTC parts. Tooling costs mandate large enough orders to amortise the setup

http://www.magnetika.com/

here is one person to talk to - you have to get a real quote from him on paper - not a verbal - and I imagine that tons of people call this guy and waste his time...

Just in case you would need some original transformers for LA2A or other projects.

Theyt make & supply UAudio with the LA2a trannies.

Possibly they have an agreement not to supply to others? -I don't know though..

Couldn't hurt to ask, though CJ has some thoughts about the ganuine accuracy of the reproductions, I'm certain...

its no surprise...

I looked into it awhile back and the minimals are enormous...

100 piece minimum at $150 a pop is a lot of cash..

perhaps things have changed now..

doesnt reall matter as my observations have been that the sowters are near as good if not a little better than the re-issues... and cheaper. (they might not come in the pretty cans but they sure save cash and sound good.

Magnetika quoted me a few months ago as follows.

Pricing for both A10 & A24 is the same.

Minimum order is 1 pc @ $297.50ea + $300.00 set up charge

100 pcs @ $85.00 ea + $ 300.00 set up charge
250 pcs @ $80.75 ea + $ 300.00 set up charge

Lead time 16 weeks aro.

I guess if I was going to make 100 LA2A then $88.00 each would be a fair price. But then Sowter would also lower their price at 100 pieces I am sure.

Ask Adrian about the the whole UA/UTC thing. He has top secret info that you might be able to bribe him out of.
