Hi Guys-

I've gotten a hold of an old Amperite RAH ribbon. All in all, not in bad shape, although the wires have been pulled from the transformer. The ribbon itself is intact and in place.

Anyone seen one of these before? Just curious if there was a suggestion for a replacement transformer, and if the switch is hard to do. I can solder ok, but am winging this, so to speak. The mic belonged to my grandfather, so I'd like to get it up and running, if possible.

Thanks!
josh

you might check out CJ's v72 post.
It shows some detailed pics of a transformer build/wind
You may be able to repair your transformer
If you want it to sound good though...
I would suggest a transformer upgrade
try sowter transformers and do a search there for ribbon mic
lundahl is a good trafo too

ALSO: note the soldering technique CJ illustrates... these wires are tiny and burn up easy but it can be done. (if all the windings are intact)
you really have nothing to loose trying this
hope this helps
ts
