RIP Bill Collings

Bill raised the bar for every guitar builder everywhere. I read someone say, " there are people that make guitars as good, but none better than Bill Collings". And "there is no one making objects of any kind out of wood that have better fit and finish than Collings guitars".  Could not agree more with both statements.

I live in Austin and was blessed to meet Bill several times. The last time was at the local bluegrass festival, waiting in line at the ice cream stand. As luck would have it, I had a Martin Guitars t shirt on. I am honored to say Bill looked at me, then the shirt, smiled and said "dick". I smile as I write this. RIP Mr. Bill.

Very sad news indeed.

Superb acoustic guitars.

Probably the very best when it comes to manufactured steelstrings.

That alone makes Bill a legend.

But to family and friends he was more than that, of course.
