I built one of the clones a few years back. It's great, but by the time I had factored in my labour it was the same price that an original would have been at the time. That's maybe not the case now. I enjoyed the process of building it, so it wasn't problem for me.
However, if I were in the market for a DimD now I would certainly buy the KT version.
