Roland Space Echo Re 201 Potentiometers

Hello,

I own a Roland Re-201 space echo which recently has had the Echo Volume Pot fail. It is not dirty but mechanically broke. I am trying to find a suitable replacement for this unit. I contacted Farnell and they sent me two 20k Pot options. One is linear and one is Logarithmic. Does anyone know what would be the best fit for this unit? I included links to the two options that they sent me. Overall I guess my question is should the Echo Volume Pot on a re 201 space echo be Linear or Logarithmic? Thanks so much for your time!

In general, volume pots should have log curve.

If you can post the photo (or marking) of the original broken pot this will help.

Even if you can't figure out which curve should the pot have, solder in the log one first and check if the volume changes smoothly. If not, change it to lin pot and check for smootheness once again. The pot that produces the most smooth volume change is the one needed.

According to the service manual it is a 20KB pot, so linear is the correct taper.

so just to be positive for anyone who knows, this should be the correct pot to use with the Echo Volume portion of the unit?  also wondering about size, etc.
