In general, volume pots should have log curve.If you can post the photo (or marking) of the original broken pot this will help.Even if you can't figure out which curve should the pot have, solder in the log one first and check if the volume changes smoothly. If not, change it to lin pot and check for smootheness once again. The pot that produces the most smooth volume change is the one needed.
