Hi all, I’m looking for a replacement incremental rotary encoder with 50 pos for the main knob in a Lexicon 300. Panel mount, 6 mm shaft.

However have searched everywhere and I can only find 24 pos at most. How important is it that it has the same resolution? Would be really grateful for any insight!

Only how many turns it would need to make, to get to the same position. With a 24-step-per-rev, you'd have to make about twice as many turns as with the original.

Best case, the thing has velocity sensing (so the faster you turn it, the "bigger" steps the adjustment takes, like some oscilloscopes nowadays), so it's just a matter of speed, but that's about it.

Thanks! Assumed it would be like that.

Interesting is that the service manual of Lexicon 300 specifies a 50 pos encoder for some revisions and 36 pos for other revisions of the front panel assemblies. Both have the exact same function. Mine has 50 pos.
