Hi!,

I'm trying to understand and build an SSL EQ. But i expect that my question can also be useful for other equalizers.

Before placing the question, i just want to make clear this is a pure theorical question, just for the sake of knowledge. Ok so far.

Attached is an excerpt of an ssl eq 82e242. My question is related to the GAIN potentiometers and theis surrounding resistors and other parts.

This gain stage is built around a 25k linear center tapped pot.

So here comes my question:

IF instead of a 25k linear pot i use a 10k linear or 50k linear pot, I SUPPOSE, that i have to SCALE THE surrounding RESISTOR VALUES accordingly, (UP or DOWN) to mantain the values/ratios. ¿Is this correct?

For example, in the schematic, the 25k gain pot is surrounded by R11 1k0 and R16 1k0.

if i change the 25k pot for 50k i should change R11 and R16 to 2k?

if i change the 25k pot for 10k i should change R11 and R16 to 500R?

Is that way of thinking correct?

Are there other values that i would have to change, if i change the potentiometer value?

Thank you very much!

Jay x
