Nothing makes a first impression like a good screen name. I sometimes wish I'd thought of some of these before I chose mine. New members struggling to come up with a name can freely steal these ideas.

Song titles, album titles or permutations thereof can make good ones. I thought "Emperor Tomato Ketchup" was just the result of signing up on a binge night, until I remembered that it's the title of a Stereolab album.

Some possibilities here:

Spacemoth
Captain Easychord
BrokenLevee
Electric Larryland
OxfordComma (for literary types)
Motoroller Scalatron
Hairway to Steven

Electronics terms and wordplay on same is widely used and often great. "Gridcurrent" and "Squarewave" get some props here.

Suggestions:

RectumFryer
Ohm Depot
Shock Monkey (but names with monkey in it are so done)
SyndrOhm
Vacation Ohm
FETCemetary
DeadShort
Polarized
Farad the Magician
FlipFlop
Unbiased
Groundloop
King Henry
Joule Thief
Loadline
2Pole
Doped
Pol Pot (bad taste)
Timeconstant
Openwinding

Combination of the two categories above:

Shockolate City
ChokeOnTheWater
Long White Linedriver
DIY’er Ma'ker
Noise in the Attic
Blue Suede Fuse
American Pi
StandByYourManley

Whatcha got?

I'd gladly change my screen monicker
I chose it on day one when we moved from the old place and there was a community sense of wanting to be a bit more underground.
I think my real name was what I had at the old place and I'd probably use my real one now.  I think you're allowed a few name changes on Facebook, on Ebay I don't think there's a limit.

You've got some cracking ones on your list to choose from though  :D

I once read a list of very funny names for bands, I remember The Wynona Riders, or Ben Dover and the Screamers.

P.S. FETCemetary is awesome!

Ok.  But I gotta make it quick...hmmm.

virtuesignals
rezisfutile (saw a shirt with that)
ruthfadergainsburg
automatedhostages
rupertsdrops
getterdun
solderity
darmonichistortion
vivalavia
Ohmicronic

Jeez these are terrible.  ;D ;D  I'll leave it to my betters.

Edit:

+1  on fetsematary.    8)

Eurorack modular synth sidechain comp!  It would totally sell.

Darth Fader! Excellent.

Yeah, I write songs. Mostly based on dirty limericks.  ;D (nah)

Boji, you’re too hard on yourself. I’d take several of those over my current moniker. Ruthfadergainsberg? My drink came out my nose when I read that.

Surely there’s more out there where these came from?

rm, you're a card, a true card!  ;D

Well...you know a newbie won’t even see this until after they sign up because it will be buried - unless it was a sticky...

Elect Ron Icks
Ohm Slaw
Circa Tree

That’s all I got right now I have to leave for work.

Mike

Back when our shop still had a whiteboard (remember those?) I'd often start a list of proposed band names, which sometimes went in interesting directions.

Pile of Sweaters
Jonestown Mass Transit
Ribeye Stakes
Dark Towel

I used have fun fooling around with names for bands with my mates back in the day,

Some of the funnier ones were ,
Needle dick and the bug f****ers
Baron Bollock
the whiskey priests
Buttox
Gimp

All  of those bands actually existed and gigged except the first ,  ;D

Shall Ohm.  That's a product line win too.

By the urging of friends, Portable Mountain was the only name I paused for. It too became a darling in need of killing.

This reminds me of the announcing the late arrivals to the 'whatever' ball that was a well loved part of the UK radio programme 'I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue' that was chaired by Humphrey Lyttleton. I remember the following example from the Surgeons ball:

Announcing Mr and Mrs Ickle-Stocking and their son Serge (Ickle-Stocking)

So we could have announcing late arrivals the the DIYers ball:

Announcing Mr & Mrs Uminium-Chassis and their son Al

and so on.

Cheers

Ian
