I edited your post a bit - some CR's between image link lines are often needed for the forum software to work properly..

Re. cloning the fairchild solid-state stuff - we have discussed this before, I think. John Klett over at PSW has a write-up about the whole Fairchild module family (and says that none of the other stuff compares to 660/670 anyway)

aren't they so cheap, that's it's cheaper just to buy the stuff? don't get fooled by the name, those modules are not in that league. might sound interesting though
 
I have used the fairchild 663 which is an opto-compressor solid state that had it's own little unique flavor. I won't say it was good or bad but different. Totally not a first choice though...
 
didn't that entire console use LDR faders? one could make sidechains and have comps on all channels. or maybe do something like Amek's VD. pucho what did that comp cost you?
