Hi everyone - I'm new here.  I have been here and found lots of great info in the past.

I have a question.  I made a DB25 to DB25 cable.  I had soldered 3 DB25 connectors that day and must have been tired cause when I tested the cable with a continuity meter, I found that a couple of the wire on the last DB25 connector I soldered were touching and shorting.  So I fixed it.  But this got me wondering...
This cable goes from the analog output of my AD/DA converter to another box (a summing box I built).  If by any chance any of these wires were shorting to each other, would this just degrade the audio signal or could it actually cause damage to the converter?

Thanks

Rob

Most products are designed anticipating that consumers will abuse them. Some expensive/esoteric products may not be as idiot-proofed as mainstream consumer products, for sundry reasons.

It's never a good idea to short outputs to ground or other outputs, but most will survive unscathed.

Thanks.  The converter is a Lynx Aurora 16.  I don't like to have shorts either, but my OCD wanted me to make sure just in case :p
