Hi Folks,
I've got a v72 in a rack with another module, and I'm trying to figure out what that module is.

It's the exact same size as the V72 cassette and is sharing the power supply aswell, though it doesn't appear to have any tubes in it from what I can tell.

Anyone have any idea what it is ?

Thanks,

NHNS.

My guess is a line amp. There have been quite some modules in the old 'V72-style' housings which are probably forgotten nowadays. From the picture I guess that it has a power-, input- and output transformer. It doesn't look like it belongs to tapemachine or tv stuff, the labling indicates moderate gain. It looks like it has been recapped. It is pretty clean and probably someone installed a LED. Did you get it with the rack? Did you turn it on? I don't think it shares the power supply with the V72, but the step-down transformer to adapt the mains voltage to 220V.

Thanks !

I'll have a good look at the wires again, but it sure looks like it shares the power supply inside the case, but maybe there's a few wires going in different places that I hadn't spotted.

It was in the rack when I got it, yes.  I originally thought it was 2 X V72's, but once i opened it up I could tell immediately the weight was very different to the V72, and then the more I looked the more obvious it was.  Frustrating as I'd really like to understand what it actually is.
