Just wondering how they stack up to nos RCA's. In general, Signetics was pretty good back in the day, right?
I just found a bunch at an estate sale.

It depends on what you mean by "good"... The original 2n3055 was slower than dirt... while rugged compared to early power transistors.

There are some people who believe there is something magical about using old inferior, by modern standards, parts.

I would find those people and extract "good" money from them... A win-win, if there ever was one...

PS AFAIK the 2n3055 was an RCA design. If Signetics made a version it is not an original part, but it could still be an old POS.

I have some 2n3055 by ST microelectronics, some have around 20 years and others 25.
Might they sound good?

If they're going into an MCI, best use the RCA's.

I got a bunch of the 'H' versions off the 'bay not too long ago, reasonably priced.

Looks like these are a good bet.
