I wanna use a relay to switch between stereo/mono mode because I only got a 1-pol switch in the frontpanal

I have a 12VDC relay in my desk but I only got 30VDC available inside the G1176. Can I bring the 30VDC to 12VDC with a 7812 or should I make a complete little psu for this little thing using the AC from the toroid and make something like volker did in the DOAC?

Cheers
Søren

the 7812 can take 35V the LM317 up to 40V, i would go for the LM317. But its a lot of "wood" for the regulators to step up more than 10V, they will become very hot. A large Heatsink might help.

I strongly recommend a separate supply for any digital/switching rails.

For the digital boards that I'll be using (the expat audio ones) - we'll be suggesting additional 12V supplies be intergrated into the rack case, with their inputs tied to the primaries of the inpur transformer.

That way, it should at least behave like a completely separate supply, and not interfere with the analog.

Will you be switching live? Probably not. I'd just use the -10v rail, should be enough to activate the relay? Am I wrong?

Thanks for the reply.
I will make a little psu for this thing..  ;) ;) I shot a pic when I'm done...
