Cheap Harbor Freight 9-LED flashlight, two for three bucks, perpetually on sale for two bucks per pair. Not something you want to spend more than three minutes troubleshooting.
This one is on my keychain, lives in my pocket. Go to use it, no light.
Unscrew the back end with the switch, battery carousel is fine at 4.5V (three AAA cells). Switch contacts contact. mA meter in place of switch, drawing reasonable current. Should work. ???
Then I look at the front, the bezel recess is the perfect size to randomly eat a coin while in my pocket, a good light press fit. And so it did.
