I need to build a few prototypes for January. The customer wants an analogue voltmeter. No need for high precision, more an indication between 3 and 20 VDC. I don't mind having to add resistors and rectifying diode. It has to be small cause there little room in the box, analogue, a bit retro looking, and current production in case the prototype is successful.
Small as in less than 5 X 5 cm (2' x 2').
I also need something easy to shop, so preferably a retail source in EU. Worldwide is OK if they ship fast.

So far I was thinking of stuff like these, but I wonder if it's possible to open them in order to fit a new scale that I would print?

Any advice about where to shop those or other ones that may fit the bill?

Panel Meters section. Both of the meters of your images are there. And yes, all meters I have ever installed are easily opened up if you want to change the scale print.

Just got some smaller scale 1mA meters there myself.

Thanks. Mike is definitely an option. He has pretty good choice and his H319 is also tempting...

The original poster didn´t say what parameter he wants to display with the meter. Since he posted pictures of VUs I thought that´s what he needs.

I thought my OP was explicit  ;)

Any way, thanks for the link. The 13.5mm depht of that RS VUmeter may solve my real estate issue!

These are Nissei meters. You can find them here:
http://www.nissei.com.tw/e/nissei_all.htm
It's possible that they would ship you a couple samples for the price of shipping.
If you only need a couple, hairball has a few Nissei selections in stock.

I have some VU's like the top one. (Flashstar SD39) they come apart, (snap together , no glue or screw) but you have to be gentle. I wasn't and well, let's just say be gentle...
